Using artificial intelligence this music creation software analyses the colour information in a video piece and scores music defined by band selection, rhythm, tempo, and use of jingle. A fascinating way to create music which is neither loop or music library based.

The RED ONE 4K camera feel like a cross between a film camera and a large video camera. It is solidly built, feels and operates like a camera of the highest quality, and works with lenses which would traditionally attach to a 35mm motion picture body. It is an incredible achievement that an independent camera manufacturer has been able to produce a working system which challenges the established players in the world of high end acquisition.

The Assistant Editor, taking the work out of editingHas a video

08/08/2008

in Reviews

Rick Young
It sounds like something out of an Isaac Asimov novel, a time when machines rule the world and computers replace humans. The idea of "The Assistant Editor" is nothing along these sinister lines - this is not something which will do your editing for you, rather it is something that will help to arrange video clips and audio grabs in a coherent form so you can explore the stories within that material. The Assistant Editor takes a lot of the initial work out of the editing process.

Death of a CameraHas a video

Rick Young
It was a very ambitious shoot. A shootout between the new Sony EX1 and the well-established Panasonic HVX-200. Two experienced shooters in a world-class location - high up on a lookout area, overlooking San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. Both shooters jumped into a cab, left the city, crossed the famous bridge and followed a winding road high up into the hills overlooking the Bay area. Out steps the shooters, an insane amount of equipment is unloaded: 4 cameras in all, microphones, tripods, enough gear for a covering wideshot and single shot on either of the shooters as they test the two cameras in one of the world’s most beautiful locations.

FireWire 400 is used to power the device while transfer of data is through the Express 34 slot on the MacBook Pro, making this a portable RAID which can be run in the field without AC power.
