RED Digital Cinema redesign Scarlet and Epic

At NAB 2008 RED digital cinema showed off prototypes of Scarlet and Epic. Scarlet was to be a 3K digital cinema camera and Epic was to be 5K. RED boldly declare that the one thing we can all count on with RED is that everything will change. They have lived up to the motto and now, once again, in mid-November 2008 RED has rewritten the camera rulebook, completely redesigned both Scarlet and Epic, and lived up to their reputation as the most innovative of the camera manufacturers on the planet today.

Gadgets: Flip Mini goes HD

The makers of the pocket-sized Flip Camcorder, Pure Digital Technologies, Wednesday launched a new product: the Flip Mino HD. The new camera weighs a little over 85g, records 60 minutes of HD video, takes HD still photos, and sells for about US$230 (around £155).

Canon upgrade professional HDV Camcorders

Sony adds new pro-level HDV camcorder

Sony today announced its HDV compact camcorder for professional creatives, the HVR-Z5E, as well as the memory recording unit, the HVR-MRC1K. The camcorder features a new fixed 'G Lens' system, native progressive recording capabilities, increased sensitivity for low-light conditions and an array of other features that the company says are designed for general TV production, videographers, budget movie-makers and corporate video production professionals.
